Social Media Marketing: How Small Businesses Can Win? Part 1 of 2

Social media has been around longer than most people realize. Traditional forms of advertising are still popular, but social media allows you to reach a broader audience and is often free. While there are things to think about in the online space, some of the basics of selling your brand through social networks remain the same. Read on and learn how to navigate this space.

If you choose to use a social media site in your marketing plans, remember that people need to know that they are being heard. When an individual customer voices an idea, chances are that others share it. Let them know you hear what their concerns are as well.
When you are using social media, be certain to post often. It is easier to post frequently if you do so on a set schedule. This will help your users know when the new content will be posted, and they will check back for updates. Give yourself a reminder before it's time to write a fresh entry on your blog.
Generate regular updates for each of the social media outlets you use. Stagnant profiles can be flagged as outdated by not only the major search engines, but also the readers. Update your content so that people will have a reason to come visit your site.
Create a blog and try to keep the content you add relevant. Use your blog to promote any specials or sales you may be having; even if you changed something simple like your store hours or new location. Don't forget to include this information in your blog posts.
Just because the holidays are generally a time of increased profits, this does not mean you should shift the social media marketing-focus from your consumers. Instead, you should double your efforts to make sure your brand is top of mind when they begin their seasonal buying. Make sure you always have back up plans in your arsenal and approach the season with fun on mind. Your consumers will really respond to this.
One very important point is that your media profiles and social-networking profiles should be accessible in a number of languages - including your local language. Customize media for each area and demographic and do not just copy and paste. When you take the time to do this, your customers will feel more valued and will be more likely to visit again.
